Spanish Language Instruction
SPAN 2010 Intermediate Spanish
This course stresses the importance of oral and some basic written communication. Students are introduced to more advanced verb tenses, including the subjunctive. Lots of conversation practice is done with partners or in small groups.

SPAN 2020 Intermediate Spanish II
This is a continuing course for SPAN 2010. It further expands on verb tenses and communication practice, and includes more than one instance of an oral presentation in front of the class.

SPAN 3020 Intermediate Spanish Grammar & Composition
Conducted in Spanish and taken abroad. This course is an intensive review of Spanish language structure, verbs, idioms, and vocabulary with an introduction to syntax and stylistics through controlled and free composition. We focused specifically on grammar in the context of Argentine language and culture.
SPAN 3050 Intermediate Spanish Convers/Comp I
Conducted in Spanish. This course emphasizes Spanish vocabulary acquisition, oral and written communication strategies, and appropriate linguistic formulations for specific cultural contexts.

SPAN 3080 The Hispanic World: Latin America
Conducted in Spanish and taken abroad. This course introduces the significant cultural aspects of Spanish-American countries. Emphasis is placed on the development of the political, economical, geographical, social, and artistic aspects of Spanish America from the indigenous period to the present. I received instruction from this course from a unique perspective because it was taught in the context of Argentine language and culture.

SPAN 3110 Survey of Spanish American Literature
Conducted in Spanish and taken abroad. This course gives an overview of the important literary movements, influences, authors, and works of Spanish-American literature from the Colonial period to the present. We focused specifically on Argentine literature, particularly poems and short stories.
​SPAN 3160 Spanish for International Business I
Conducted in Spanish. This course introduces the different business practices of Spanish-speaking countries and how they are applied in real-life situations. I researched a specific country and came up with my own business proposal within its particular economic, political, and cultural setting.
SPAN 4090 Comprehensive Writing in Spanish
Conducted in Spanish. This course studies Spanish stylistics in addition to grammar review. We wrote paragraphs, short compositions, and creative papers in Spanish on both fiction and non-fiction topics.

SPAN 4160 Spanish for International Business II
Conducted in Spanish and taken abroad. This course expands on what is taught in SPAN 3160. It teaches etiquette for business with people of different cultures and backgrounds, particularly those from Spanish speaking countries.
LANG 4990 Language Portfolio
Course currently in progress. This course provides a platform and resources for students to finalize the required digital portfolio that demonstrates and documents progress during their course of studies. It addresses the following aspects of the portfolio: study abroad, internship (if applicable), cross-cultural awareness, reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving skills, ethical judgment, and information technology.
Religion, Literature, and Culture
ENGL 1030 Composition and Rhetoric
This course was focused on using writing to discuss important societal issues and tell personal stories. Students learn how to effectively use university-level writing techniques to craft well-written papers. I also completed a project using Adobe design at the end of the year about an important political topic and presented it to the class.

ENGL 3040 Business Writing
Course currently in progress. This course introduces writing strategies which effectively evaluate the audience, context, and purpose of texts for a professional environment. Examples include newsletters, reports, project proposals, and letters.

REL 3000 Studying Religion
This course is a discussion-based seminar in which students read the writings of the great theorists of religion since the eighteenth century. Social-scientific, phenomenological, and cultural approaches to the study of religion are explored. Basic methodologies and tools for studying religion are also introduced.

REL 3020 New Testament Literature
This course is discussion based and studies the books of the New Testament from the standpoint of their occasion, content, literary form, and basic theology. At the end of the semester, the students in our class participated in formal debates on different controversial issues from our readings.

SPAN 3130 Spanish Literature Survey I
Conducted in Spanish. This course teaches the literary movements, influences, and authors important in Spanish literature from the beginning to the end of the 17th century. We read significant amounts of poetry and short stories, and spent a lot of time in class discussing the different historical and cultural themes present.

SPAN 4060 Spanish Narrative Fiction
Conducted in Spanish. This course includes topic-generated readings from Spanish America and/or Spain. Readings consider gender issues, the family, ethnicity, religion, politics, history, or socioeconomic issues in the Hispanic world.

HIST 1730 The West and the World II
This course surveys the history of the West in modern times, from the late 17th century to the present. Particular emphasis is placed on Europe's interaction with non-western societies. Through cross-cultural comparisons, European history is placed in a global context.

HIST 3180 History of American Women
This course gives an overview of the many significant female historical figures in U.S. history and the impacts they continue to have in American society. At the end of the semester, we created a digital exhibit on a historical figure, group, or movement that was important to the history of American women, and presented it to the class.

COMM 1500 Introduction to Human Communication
This course is a general overview of theoretical approaches to the study of communication, including the theory and practice of interpersonal/small group/intercultural/public communication. Includes a laboratory.

ANTH 2010 Introduction to Anthropology
This course offers a four-field overview: primates and human biological origins; the development of agriculture and complex societies in the archaeological record; contemporary human societies cross-culturally; and the relationship between languages and cultures.

ACCT 2010 Financial Accounting Concepts
This course introduces accounting principles with emphasis on the use of financial data and analysis of financial statements.

ECON 2110 Principles of Microeconomics
This course was an introduction to economic reasoning and its application to the study of the behavior of consumers and businesses. Studies learn about competition in the marketplace, monopolies, international trade, and the impact of selected public policies.

ECON 2120 Principles of Macroeconomics
This course studies inflation, unemployment, and economic growth with a particular emphasis on the influence of fiscal and monetary policies on financial markets and the overall economy.
ECON 3140 Intermediate Microeconomics
This course expands on the foundation left by ECON 2110 by taking its fundamentals and applying them to new market conditions.
ECON 3020 Money and Banking
This course considers the function of money and banking in both the product and financial markets. Special emphasis is placed on monetary theory and current problems of monetary policy.

ECON 4280 Cost-Benefit Analysis
Course currently in progress. This course provides an understanding of cost-benefit analysis. Its end objective is for students to have the ability to undertake a real-cost-benefit analysis project and determine whether someone else’s cost-benefit analysis is well or poorly done.

LAIB 1270 Introduction to Language and International Business
This course introduces the basics of international business and related career opportunities.
LAIB 4000 Language and International Business Internship
This course is taken after or during an internship with a verified international company and consists of writing a related report or research paper in Spanish.
MATH 2070 Business Calculus II
This course introduces calculus of several variables, differential calculus, and optimization of several variables, and multiple integrals.
MGT 2010 Principles of Management
This course discusses the role of management in the functions of organized business.
MGT 4230 International Business Management
Course currently in progress. This course studies hypothetical and current factors of international business operations with topics including: foreign investment, international trade, the role of the internet in business, and multinational corporations.

MKT 3010 Principles of Marketing
This course teaches the basics of the different strategies that go into distributing and promoting goods and services.
MKT 3020 Consumer Behavior
This course studies the impacts of individual and group behavior on consumer decision making and how they can be assessed.
MKT 4270 International Marketing
In this course, students cover marketing concepts from an international viewpoint. Emphasis is placed on the necessity of cross-cultural communication skills and an understanding of the different cultural perspectives that exist in foreign market places.
MKT 4200 Professional Selling
Course currently in progress. This course teaches current theories about the selling of goods and services to organizational buyers in the context of long-term relationships. Students practice role playing, video-taped presentations, and other techniques to enhance personal communication skills and sales capabilities.
STAT 2220 Statistics in Everyday Life
This course focuses on the role of statistics in a variety of areas including politics, medicine, environmental issues, advertising, and sports. It explores common statistical misconceptions and helps one develop an understanding of how principles of probability and statistics affect many aspects of everyday life.
